The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is based on the popular Highlander SUV, boasting a more environmentally-friendly gas-electrical hybrid engine that delivers glorious fuel economy and lower emissions.
The seven-passenger Highlander Hybrid is offered in an all-wheel drive configuration only, with 2 trim levels: Base and Limited. It employs a complicated Hybrid Synergy Drive system - a three.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator - producing 280 net horsepower and mated to an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission. The Base trim is provided with 17-inch aluminum wheels, air con, satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and audio streaming, and a USB port. The Limited trim adds 19-in. aluminum wheels, an influence rear liftgate, power moonroof, three-zone automatic climate management, heated front seats, leather upholstery and a Smart Key System with push-button start. Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic vehicle stability and traction control systems, active anti-whiplash front head restraints, a rearview camera monitor, front side-impact airbags, a driver knee airbag and overhead curtain airbags for all rows. Hybrid-related parts are backed by an eight-year/one hundred,000 mile warranty.
