What is a Foreign Car?

 What is a Foreign Car?
If you haven't noticed, there really is a world economy. I actually have heard individuals say that they would never buy anything but an "American-created" vehicle. Thus, how do you know if a vehicle is "American created"? Most automobile makers use elements that are made in alternative countries, whether or not the vehicle is assembled in the United States; and many cars that are thought of "foreign created" are assembled right here in America.

Can you tell me which of the following could be a "foreign" automobile?

   1. BMW Z3
   2. Mazda 626
   3. Mitsubishi Eclipse
   4. Nissan Quest
   5. Mercedes ML320
   6. Cadillac Catera

Surprise! It's the Cadillac Catera. This automobile is constructed in Germany by General Motors whereas the others are assembled here in the United States. General Motors (an American car company) also builds nine models of their cars and trucks in Canada and Mexico. Ford (another American automobile company) produces 3 models in Canada, and DaimlerChrysler (nevertheless another American automotive company) produces five models in Mexico and Canada.

Honda, Isuzu, BMW, Mercedes, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota are all companies that are not American automobile firms, however that every one have automobile and truck assembly plants within the Untied States and whose staff are dues-paying members of the United Auto Staff (UAW) union.

Furthermore, these "foreign" automotive corporations are not just importing components that are created in alternative countries and having the automobile assembled here. No, sixty ninep.c of the elements for these "foreign-made" vehicles are also created right here in America. The Big 3 U.S. automakers (GM, Ford, and DaimlerChrysler) use elements of which 79% are made in the United States, thus there's not a large distinction.

So defining what's or isn't an "American-made" vehicle is becoming a lot of and a lot of difficult, and the very fact is that I am not even positive that the animal still exists.
