2011 Ferrari 458 Italia
Ferrari has a story - and what a story it is - that will be told again and again for decades and centuries to come. Much like you, like a car-friend I've read bits and pieces of Enzo's life and legacy, and have always been fascinated by how he reluctantly ended up making and selling cars to support his Scuderia Ferrari. Now, 64 years later, his name associated with some of the downright best cars in the world.
Ferrari has always had a special place in my heart, but if you know me, you know that my heart is large and can accommodate quite a lot. I've always been partial to Porsche because of performance, aura and near attainability. Having driven quite a few Porsches on a track, I really enjoy technological effort put forth to make their cars as well as they are on the road and track.
But this is my first Ferrari.
Admittedly, I have never had the opportunity to drive a Ferrari, and honestly I thought the day would come only at a much later date. But then, one morning, I received a PM on Facebook from Mr. LeTourneau and distant future was very near future. Thanks Supercar Challenge, I had to rip 458 Italy around the Circuit Mont-Tremblant.
First a little about me, so more on the car. I've never been a big fan of F1 cars or racing in general smaller series was based on the production saloons, or consisted of cars going sideways between trees at the enormous rates of speed. Myself behind the wheel of virtually any car on a track: Now that, I'm a partisan of.
And on the subject of Ferrari, which I have mentioned, I've loved them forever, but have always thought them to be more for show than go. Realistically, the number of Ferrari owners who actually track their cars not be so great (please correct me if I'm wrong). The same goes for the Lamborghini - and I will have more of a Gallardo Spyder soon. It may have been a disconnect here before, but now it's very much gone.
