 The fun to drive compact German hatchback came back to the North American market in 2010 to exchange the Rabbit, a reputation that was revived in North America back in 2006 for the then new MkV hatchback version of the Jetta.

The MkVI Golf is offered in 2-door and 4-door bodystyles and will be powered by either a 170-hp two.5-liter inline 5-cylinder gas engine, or a brand new a hundred and forty-hp two.zero-liter TDI clean-diesel engine. Patrons that keep company with the gas engine will opt for between either a 5-speed manual transmission or six-speed Tiptronic automatic; while TDI patrons choose from either a six-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed DSG auto with Tiptronic. Normal safety options on all models embody, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, tire pressure monitoring and six airbags. TDI models are extra equipped with options such as sport suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels/tires, leather steering wheel and shift knob, touch-screen six-disc audio system with SIRIUS and floor mats.

For 2012, fog lights and a rear pass-through armrest are currently commonplace on the 2.5 models. Bluetooth and heated washer jets are currently standard on the TDI models. The massive news for 2012 is that the addition of the 256-hp Golf R to the road-up. The Golf R boasts 4Motion AWD, a six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch wheels and tires, and adaptive bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights.
