Porsche 2012 Cayman
Full details of the 2012 Porsche Cayman don't seem to be yet available, however Porsche has announced that a restructure, the Cayman R, will debut in February 2011 as a 2012 model at a base list value of $sixty six, three hundred. Similar to the Boxster Spyder, the Cayman R is optimized for performance, due to modifications and dramatic weight reduction versus the Cayman S model.
Like the Boxster Spyder convertible, which rolled out in 2010 as a 201one model, the Cayman R uses aluminum door skins and carbon-fiber-backed seats and door panels to reduce weight. It even replaces the regular within door handles with canvas pull-straps. The stereo and air con also are omitted. The R is 121 pounds lighter than the Cayman S.
Different changes embody some mechanical and otherwise-optional options: A sport suspension lowers the Cayman R by eight-tenths of an in., and the 3.four-liter six-cylinder engine generates 330 horsepower, a rise of 10 hp over the Cayman S. A limited-slip differential is standard, and the R borrows front and back spoilers from the Cayman Aerokit and light-weight 19-in. wheels from the Boxster Spyder. According to Porsche, the R model shaves 2-tenths of a second off the S trim level's zero-to-sixty mph time, to 4.7 seconds with the standard six-speed manual transmission or 4.four seconds with the seven-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission and optional Sport Chrono package.
